The MSJC softball team split a doubleheader on Friday with visiting College of the Desert. The Eagles dropped a heartbreaking 14 inning contest in the first game of the day, but rebounded to win game two.

In the day's first game the two teams battled to a 4-4 score after 7 innings, and the score would stay that way until the 14th.  Some great pitching and defense on both sides continued to force the game to continue until a pair of runs by Desert in the top of the 14th became the difference.  Amy Perrault was the tough luck loser in the circle as she pitched 10 innings in relief allowing just one earned run.  She also was one of the Eagles' offensive stars of the game as she collected three hits and 3 RBIs.  Emma Bustos drove in MSJC's other run.  Alexis Aldridge also had three hits for the Eagles.

In game two MSJC bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit to win 7-5.  Briana Zavala drove in three runs in the victory with a pair of hits, Veronika Prado also had two hits including a double.  Jasmine Barerras earned the pitching victory and Amanda Gromko picked up a save as she threw the final two innings of the game.

The Eagles are now 7-14 overall on the season and 4-6 in conference play.  Next up for MSJC is a non-conference home game on Thursday as they host Rio Hondo at 3 pm.  Friday the Eagles travel to San Bernardino Valley for a doubleheader starting at noon.
