Women's volleyball rallies to take down rival Ventura

Beating a rival always feels good.

The Moorpark College women's volleyball team rallied after dropping its first set to comeback and defeat Ventura in four sets Friday night, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-16, in Western State Conference play on the road.

The victory is critical, especially after Ventura topped Moorpark earlier in the season at home on Sept. 29 (also in four sets). It puts the Raiders in first place in the WSC-North Division at 5-1. Moorpark is 12-4 overall.

The Raiders will host four straight conference games starting Wednesday, Oct. 27 with LA Pierce, then host LA Mission before taking on Santa Barbara - which is currently 4-1 in conference play with a match in hand - and Cuesta (Nov. 10).

Moorpark and Santa Barbara square off on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. in what could be a conference-champion deciding match.
