SAC Volleyball Takes Out RCC in Five Sets, Falls to OCC and GWC

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Volleyball team outlasted the Riverside City Tigers to win it's first Orange Empire Conference match of the season by a score of 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 27-29, 15-12) on Wednesday, October 20th. 

It was a great team win for the Dons with so many players making big plays to get the job done.

Four players posted double-digits in kills with Kassandra Zavala leading the way at 19 and Jaiden Silver putting down 15 right behind her. Jennifer Rivera recorded a season high of 14 kills while Adamaris Gomez did the same, pitching in with 11. 

Freshman setter Kaiden Raif had one of her best games of the season as she ran a smooth offense to finish with a season high 53 assists on the night. She also added seven digs and two services, which were during a fourth set rally that saw the Dons almost come back from a double-digit deficit. 

Defensily, Angela Hill and Taylor Vagana came up big for Santa Ana. Hill recorded a team high 23 digs with two assists and an ace while Vagana finished with 18 digs and an assist. 

Since the win, the Dons have fallen to Orange Coast 3-0 and Golden West 3-1 as they continued OEC play. Today, Santa Ana sits at 6-12 overall, 1-10 in OEC play.
