The MiraCosta women's soccer team started with big energy and finished the game against San Bernardino Valley College by a final score of 2-0.   Mandy Lara got the Spartans going early when she scored in the 4th minute. Lara was assisted by Jordan Fawcett. Later in the first half Monserrate Ayala assisted Giselle Garcia for MiraCosta's second goal of the game. 

Katy King dominated the middle of the field. She and Casey Martinez both played the full 90 minutes and gave the Spartans a strong presence in their respective positions.

Anchored by goalkeeper Tristyn Wright and defensive players Martinez, Myla McKeague, and Emily Rivera,  the Spartans finished with a clean sheet.  Late in the game San Bernardino created opportunities to score but Wright denied them with her great timing.  Wright made a huge save in the final minutes to maintain the shutout.

The women's soccer team is next in action on Wednesday at Mt. San Antonio College.
