Women's soccer team beats Pierce for first win of 2019

Irvine Valley gave up a goal early, but came back with two goals and defeated LA Pierce, 2-1, on Friday on the road.

The win, which was IVC's first of the year, leveled its record at 1-1-0 overall.

Pierce scored first, but Irvine Valley got a goal from sophomore midfielder Marissa Banos and went into the halftime break tied, 1-1.

Sophomore midfielder Diana Lugo scoed the game-winner in the second half off an assist from freshman midfielder Melody Luna.

Sophomore goalie Heather Miller made five saves in the contest to help Irvine Valley to the win.

The Lasers will play their first home match of the season next Tuesday, hosting LA Harbor at 3 p.m.
