Hawks Extend Shutout Streak to Three

The Cosumnes River College (CRC) Hawks posted their third straight shutout with 8-0 conference victory over Santa Rosa Junior College on Tuesday.  Pitcher Ashlee Toy earned her sixth win of the season striking out seven. Mary Baccay and Victoria Ochoa both paced the Hawks with three hits apiece.

"It was a total team win," said head coach Kristy Schroeder. "Everybody hit well. Ashlee was once again dominant in the circle. It was nice to take care of business in five."

CRC jumped out to an early lead scoring one in the first on an Ochoa RBI single and added another in the second when Baccay drove in Seva Carter. The Hawks broke the game open by scoring five runs in the fourth inning. Leandra Coronado's run in the fifth invoked the run rule and gave the Hawks a walk-off win.

CRC returns to action on Saturday, March 5 when they host Modesto Junior College in a doubleheader at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
