Renegades Dominate in Victory

Bakersfield, CA- After spending the past two weeks on the road, the Bakersfield College football team returned to the familiar turf of Memorial Stadium where, after dropping their last game to Mt. Sac, the Renegades trounced visiting San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines, 52-8.

The Gades scored early and often in the first half play, first scoring on freshman Peter Dalis' 21-yard field goal less than five minutes into the game. BC took a 10-0 lead on a seven play 45-yard touchdown drive capped off by running back Antonio Robinson's 1 yard rush into the endzone.

SBVC then made it a 2-point game with their only touchdown of the night at 10:17 in the second quarter. The ensuing 2-point conversion made the score 10-8. It would be the last time the Wolverines would see the endzone for the rest of the game. One play after the following kickoff, sophomore Isaac Jernagin hauled in quarterback Dexter Frampton's 51-yard pass for a touchdown extending BC's lead to 17-8. About five minutes later, Frampton connected with wide receiver Myran Randle on a 25-yard touchdown reception.

Despite a penalty filled second quarter, the Renegades continued to add to their lead as Jernagin scored from two yards out giving the BC a 23-point lead. On the first play of SBVC's next possession, linebacker Brock Mather's interception and 28-yard dash into the endzone pushed the lead to 38-8.

The Gades would score twice more in the third quarter on a Frampton to tight end Jayden Smith 19-yard touchdown reception then closed out their scoring for the evening on Robinson's 1 yard touchdown run. The final 18 minutes of the game were played with a running clock.

For the game, Frampton completed 16 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Jernagin had 102 receiving yards and Smith, 104.

The Renegades (4-1) have a bye next week before returning for the homecoming game versus College of the Canyons on Saturday, October the 16th at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff will begin at 6pm with a firework show after the game.
