In his 15-year history as the Cerritos College women's soccer head coach, Ruben Gonzalez has not seen any of his teams lose two games in a row. After a rare loss on Friday, the Falcons resumed their winning ways with a 4-0 non-conference win at West Valley College. The team will get a week off before traveling to Ventura College for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference match.

Against the Vikings, Cerritos (2-1-0) scored three first half goals to take a sizable advantage. In the 15th minute, freshman Lucia Yanez (El Rancho HS) fed a ball through the defense to Kylie Yamamoto (La Habra HS), who found herself one-on-one against the goalkeeper. She was able to chip the ball into the net for her first goal of the season. Sophomore Nia Thompson (Kennedy HS/Alabama A&M University) scored the team's next two goals to give the Falcons their big advantage.

In the 32nd minute, freshman Rayleen Chavez (Costa Mesa HS) put the ball on Thompson's foot, who made a move toward the goal, turned and fired a shot into an unguarded side of the net. Just eight minutes later, Thompson picked up her third goal of the season on a set piece, as freshman Alessandria Ramirez (Warren HS) lofted a corner kick into the box, with Thompson there to head it home.

The Falcons added an extra goal in the final minute, as freshman Mackenzie Cooper (Temescal Canyon HS) passed to Yanez, who dribbled into West Valley territory and scored her third goal of the year.

Freshman goalkeepers Liza Cisneros (Bellflower HS) and Melanie Corona (El Rancho HS) shared time in the net and combined for two saves and the shutout win.
