Mt. SAC softball defeats Santa Ana, 9-1, in five innings

(Walnut, CA) A dominating 9-1 win over visiting Santa Ana College led the Mt. SAC Softball team to its seventh win of the season against two losses on Friday, February 17.

Mt. SAC scored seven runs in the first three innings before Santa Ana broke the shutout with a run in the fourth.

The Mounties were led by freshman Janis Espinoza with a double, scoring Ashley Diaz and Katelyn Olson for the eight-run rule win.

Espinoza, who caught and played third base, led the Mounties going a perfect 3 for 3, with a double, three RBIs, and a stolen base. Second baseman Asia Chacon also had three hits, including two doubles, an RBI and a stolen base.

Sophomore Desiree Bravo added two hits and an RBI.

In the circle, freshman Alyssa Rubalcava (2 hits, R, 2 Ks) won her first college game, pitching four innings.

Finishing the game with a perfect inning of relief was freshman Mirannda Rodriquez.
