Mounties Women's Basketball Rolls to Post-Season Win Over L.A. Valley

(Walnut, CA) In the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional playoffs, second-seed Mt. SAC (22-7) cruised to a 59-38 victory over No. 18 Los Angeles Valley College (16-14) on Saturday, Feb. 29.

Mina Guevera-Goss led the Mounties with 15 points and Allyah Cartajena added 11 off the bench. Aujane Mayes led the team with six rebounds and Skylarr Little added five boards of her own while blocking three shots. Hope Kakihara tallied a game-high six assists for Mt. SAC.

The Mounties' bench outscored the Monarchs', 19-7, and had an 18-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

The Mounties will host No. 7 Mt. San Jacinto (27-2) in the third round of the regionals on Saturday, March 7. The Eagles have won 26 straight and are ranked No. 3 in the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association's state poll. Mt. SAC is ranked No. 9 in the same poll.
