Dons Volleyball Splits Home Stand

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The No. 16 ranked Santa Ana College Volleyball team went 1-1 in its latest Orange Empire Conference home stand.

On Wednesday, the Dons (9-2, 2-2) made quick work of the Saddleback Bobcats (9-2, 2-2) with a convincing  3-0 win. 

Alison Caswell posted a team high 11 kills to go with six digs and a couple of assists. Matilde Teixeira hit double-digits in kills once again, recording 10 and while collecting 11 digs and two solo blocks. 

Ines Lopes led the Dons in digs with 13 and also pitched in offensively with three assists on the night. 

Although the Dons didn't play their best, it was enough for the sweep which set up a big match against the two top 25 teams as Santa Ana hosted No. 10 Irvine Valley on Friday night. 

The IVC Lasers came out hot and defeated the Dons 25-14 in the first set. But the Dons responded in the second by taking a five point lead midway through the second. Unfortunately, the Lasers were able to make some adjustments, leading to another big run and a 25-16 win. 

Irvine Valley went on to take the third set as well, giving the Dons a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-17) loss. 

SAC Volleyball will continue its season on Wednesday when they go on the road to face the Fullerton Hornets (6-8,2-2).
