Beavers Lose Opener to Folsom Lake

Beavers Lose Opener to Folsom Lake

BEAVERS LOSE OPENER TO FOLSOM LAKE 2-1

As much as the Beavers offense has done to keep the team in games all season, Tuesday was just the opposite as the pitching was outstanding but the bats could only muster 1 run as the team fell to Folsom Lake 2-1 on Tuesday.  The Beavers got on the board in the first as sophomore CF Lincoln Orellana (Shledon) singled to right to score sophomore DH Michael Grijalva (Ponderosa) who had reached on an error.  The Beavers threatened again in the 4th when sophomore 1B Bryce Sidler (Oakmont) doubled to lead off the inning.  After moving to third on a wild pitch with one out he was stranded at third after a foul out and a ground out.  On the mound freshman RHP Connor Timmins (East Nicolaus) was outstanding, throwing 6 innings and 86 pitches, allowing just 5 hits and 2 runs.  The runs both came in the 6th after a one out walk, he went to a 2-0 count on the Folsom Lake DH who took the 2-0 pitch over the right field fence.  The Beavers bullpen was equally effective, with sophomore Matt Kelly (Oak Hills), freshman Anthony Ocanas (Woodland), and sophomore Christian Lucero (River City)  all threw 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.  Lucero got two outs on two pitches.

The two Los Rios schools meet again on Thursday at Beaver Field at 2:00 p.m.
