SHASTA LOSES ROAD DOUBLEHEADER TO SISKIYOUS

WEED, Calif. – Shasta College softball lost a road doubleheader to College of the Siskiyous on Tuesday, falling 10-2 and 9-1.

Thursday's doubleheader with College of the Redwoods was canceled.

In the opener, Shasta scored twice in the top of the fourth to trail 4-2 but Siskiyous blew the game open with a six-run bottom half of the frame. The Knights committed four errors in the game and Kaylie McDaniel gave up 10 runs – four earned – on nine hits in the five innings to take the loss. Madeline Nightingale was 2 for 2 with a run, Calley Rupert was 1 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs and McDaniel scored a run.

In the second game, Autumn Giannini scored in the fourth for Shasta's lone run of the game. Giannini was 2 for 2 with a walk, and McDaniel recorded the RBI. Whitney Carnes was the losing pitcher, giving up five earned runs on 13 hits in five innings while striking out three and walking five.

Shasta (1-19) hosts Feather River College Thursday for the season finale doubleheader.
