Falcons top CRC with 9th inning Catalano homer

Chris Catalano had not seen game action in over three weeks due to a shoulder injury, but he made the most of his return to action on Thursday afternoon with a ninth inning solo home run that lifted the Falcons to a 7-6 victory over Cosumnes River at CRC.  Catalano had two hits and scored twice while raising his batting average to .444.  Second baseman Khale Good, another player that's been hampered by injuries, also hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning that put the Falcons ahead 4-3.  Righthander Gavin Ochoa pitched into the seventh inning and left with a one run lead, but was denied the victory after the hawks tied the game in the eighth.  Shortstop/pitcher Cameron Saso came on in relief and held the Hawks scoreless over the final 1-2/3 innings to earn the win.

The win enabled the Falcons (19-3-1, 7-1 in Big 8) to retain a share of the Big 8 Conference lead.  They'll conclude the 3-game series against CRC (13-10, 6-5) on Saturday at FLC at 1:00 pm.
