Tartars Celebrate Sophomore night with a hard fought contest against the Vikings

Compton CA- The Compton College Tartars Sophomore game ended in a hard fought 12-5 game losing to the Long Beach City College Vikings.

The Sophomore game would start off with fireworks as both team would score in the first inning. In true Sophomore game fashion, Tartars Sophomore Michael Heard would hit a two run homerun bomb over the right field fence. Heard homerun gave the Tartars the lead 2-1 after the first inning.

The Vikings would quickly respond in the following inning to even the score. However in the third inning, clutch hitter Bryan Vichot would connect on a two run single to regain the lead for the Tartars to a score of 4-2. The Vikings consistently had a quick response throughout the game to take a strong hold on the lead. The Tartars and the Sophomores still continued to play very hard in their last home game as Sophomore shortstop Doug Allen hit solo homerun shot to left field in the seventh inning to make the score 8-5 in favor of the Vikings. Unfortunately the Tartars would not be able to grab the lead as the Vikings hung on to a final score of 12-5.

A big congratulations is in order to our seven sophomores as they showed true resilience and grit and defined what a Compton College Tartar student athlete is all about. Thank you Michael Heard, Noah Ford, Michael Fletcher, David Martin, Jibri Walden, Doug Allen, and Mitchell Mashiko.

Up next: The Tartars will play their last game of the season on the road at Long Beach City College April 29th @ 2:30pm.
