LOS ANGELES – Facing two different teams in Los Angeles on Saturday, the SBCC softball team was defeated by LA Mission 4-1 and host LA Harbor 10-6.

It was the first time this season that the Vaqueros lost a doubleheader, after sweeping their first four. They are now 10-3 overall and 1-1 in the WSC.

LA Mission 4, SBCC 1
Santa Barbara got out to a good start, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning of its first game of the day. Pitcher Lauren Indermuehle led off with a single to start the game and got the Vaqs on the board when freshman Elliana Ryan hit an RBI single against two outs.

Unfortunately for the Vaqueros, that was the last time they made a dent on the scoreboard. LA Mission (7-5) went ahead with a pair of run-scoring hits in the bottom of the second.

The Eagles later got another two-run inning to seal the eventual win, scoring two more on three hits in the fifth to go up 4-1.

Along with handling pitching duties for all six innings, Indermuehle finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double in the top of the third. Catcher Mackenzie Ensign and first baseman Mellanie Barth both had hits as well.

LA Harbor 10, SBCC 6
The Vaqueros got their offense going in their second game against LA Harbor (5-1), but a big second inning for the Seahawks saw them go ahead for good.

SBCC struck first in the top of the second. Ensign singled to bring in the game's first run from Ryan. Alexia Ayala singled right after that and Ensign scored to make it 2-0.

The Seahawks responded with five runs on five hits in the bottom half of the inning. They added four more runs over the next two innings to take a 9-3 advantage.

Jessica Reveles walked and scored on a Harbor error in the fourth. One inning later, the Vaqueros put up three more runs.

Ryan hit an RBI single to score a run by second baseman Hailey Abdilla. Reveles hit a sac fly that brought pitcher Joslyn Soinila home. After entering as a pinch runner, Emma Hatcher later scored on a wild pitch, making it a 9-6 game.

The Vaqueros got runners on base in the final two innings, but couldn't close the gap. Ryan and Ayala both finished with two hits to lead the team.

SBCC is one-third of the way through a nine-game road trip, continuing Tuesday at Moorpark at 2:30 p.m.

Just the second time they've allowed more than five runs this season.
