SALAZAR LEADS PANTHERS IN CONFERENCE WIN - STRONG IN BOTH OFFENSE AND DEFENSE
Freshman pitcher Violet Salazar led the Panthers this afternoon in their 6-3 win over Mt San Jacinto. Salazar racked up 4 hits (all singles) and 4 RBIs. Freshman infielder opened the game for the Panthers knocking a triple in her first at bat.
Chaffey put two runs on the board in the first with Violet Salazar singling to bring in Utley followed by a Madelyn Beschorner double that scored America Dominguez. The score remained at 2-0 until the 4th when the Eagles tied the game. MtSJ went on to score an additional run in the 5th for their first and only lead; this was their final plate crossing of the game.
In the fifth, the Panthers opened with a hit by Nalissa Garcia followed by another single by Salazar tie the game 3-3. Chaffey went on to score an additonal run off a Sydney McCarthy RBI single. With Salazar back at the plate for the Panthers in the 6th the game was sealed, with her 4th single of the day bringing in Utley and Nalissa Garcia.
Salazar also went 6 innings on the mound giving up 10 hits against 32 batters.
The team plays their next three on the road beginning at El Camino tomorrow.
