Citrus College put together a furious comeback attempt, but Rio Hondo College managed to get out of the jam to hold onto a 4-3 victory.

The Owls slip to 1-4 on the young year while the Roadrunners improve to 3-0.

Mia Godoy got things going with a solo shot to center field in the second to put the Owls up 1-0 early.

The Roadrunners took over the lead with four runs in the top of the sixth, putting pressure on Citrus to respond in the final two innings of action.

Rio Hondo took the Owls down in order in the bottom of the sixth, but Citrus returned the favor in the next inning to get one more chance at the plate.

Needing three runs to keep the game going, the Owls loaded the bases with no outs and Natalie Adams drew ball four to send one run in. Tatiana Figueroa then came home on a ground out, leaving the tying runner on third and the go-ahead run at second. The Roadrunners got out of the jam, however, grabbing the next two outs to secure the win.

Citrus turns right around to host Santiago Canyon on Wednesday with first pitch at 3:00 p.m.
