Sierra College Volleyball is back, and back in style, treating fans to quite the show Friday evening in Rocklin. The Wolverine squad hosted Butte and Feather River in two thrilling matches, giving everyone a glimpse of what they're capable of this season.

To kick things off Sierra faced Butte, and after a rocky start, defeated the Roadrunners 3-1. Things looked bleak for the Wolverines at first, as they dropped the set one 25-15. Finding their groove in the following sets however, Sierra staved off a talented Butte squad to hold on for the 3-1 victory. Jacy Dean dominated the kills category, leading Sierra with 16. Hailee Mulic was on fire with 19 digs, and Bekah McGill was responsible for 27 of 44 assists.

In the nightcap, Sierra took on defending state champions Feather River in what can only be described as a thrilling match. Set one was a back and forth affair, but the Golden Eagles squeezed out the victory with a 27-25 score. Set two was much more one sided, as the Wolverines found a rhythm and dominated the court, taking set two with a 25-14 victory. In set three, Feather River began to climb back, however the Wolverines again emerged victorious with a 25-19 victory. In the fourth, Sierra was poised to take the match win, but tenacious as always, the Golden Eagles rallied late in the set, and were able to hold off the Wolverines taking the 25-23 set win. In the fifth and deciding set, Feather River jumped out to a resounding lead early, and despite a valiant effort from Sierra, the Golden Eagles took set 5 15-10, and the match 3-2.

Jacy Dean was again the kills leader with 14, with Hannah Platt and Veronika Tupy each contributing 10 each. Hailee Mulic racked up 18 digs, Sierra Kimm added 13 and Zelbee Rader 12.

Sierra is now 1-1 on the season, and will host De Anza on Wednesday, September 1 at 12:00pm in Rocklin. Fans are welcome, so we'll see you there.
