Softball Split Games with El Camino

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team hosted the El Camino Warriors in a doubleheader on Saturday evening. BC and the ECC split games, with the Renegades winning the first 3-0 and the second game going to the Warriors, 2-7. 

In the first game, pitcher Ryleigh Harrison shut down El Camino, throwing a complete game shutout. Harrison struck out three Warriors for the first game. Sophomore Shelbie Valencia hit a solo home run in the first inning. Bakersfield collected eight hits total. 

In the night's final game, BC struggled early, giving up seven runs in the first inning. The Renegade's defense held off the Warriors from scoring any more runs for the rest of the six innings but Bakersfield only scored two runs in the second game. Valencia homered another solo run in the in the fifth inning while Alyna Ruiz scored from Anika Romo's double. 

With the loss and the win, Bakersfield is now 4-5 on the season. Bakersfield will head out on the road on Tuesday, February 14th to take on Antelope Valley College.
