Softball Dominates, 8-0, in Season Opener

Cypress, CA – Cypress Chargers softball (1-0) hosted the East Los Angeles Huskies (2-2) in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers started strong with an efficient six inning, 8-0, victory.

Leading the way for the Chargers was Sophie Little with a game high, four hits, to go along with her two RBI's and two runs scored. Alyssa Huerta totaled one hit and drove in three RBI's on the day. Emily Rush threw 4.2 innings, giving up one hit and one walk while striking out four. Cypress out hit the Huskies 11 to 2 over the six innings played.

At the fault of the Huskies, the Chargers hit the ground running scoring three times in the first two innings of play. The Chargers strong pitching kept the Huskies off the board, but the offense blew the gates open in the sixth inning, ultimately ending the game due to the run rule. Little, Huerta and Isabella Savala each knocked in a run to make the score 7-0 in the sixth. Unfortunetly for the Huskies errors became the script to seal their fate as Camryn Addimando scored off an error, the fourth of the game, by the shortstop to seal the Chargers 8-0 victory.

UP NEXT: The Chargers head into a double header against San Diego Mesa on Friday at Cypress beginning at 10 AM.
