MSJC Volleyball Wins a Pair of Matches in Home Opener

The MSJC women's volleyball team played their first home matches of the season on Wednesday and defeated both Riverside City College and LA Mission in four sets.

In the first match of the day the Eagles lost the first set to RCC 17-25, before coming back to win three sets in a row 25-21, 25-23, and 25-23 to claim the victory.  Mckenna Conklin continued her hot start to the season as she led the MSJC offense with 18 kills.  Jaleesa Robinson added 10 kills for the Eagles and Brooklynn Thomas had 8.  Trysta Vincelli had a match high 42 assists while on defense Chloe Mata had a match best 15 digs.

In match two against LA Mission the Eagles were able to win the opening set 25-22, before dropping the second 17-25.  MSJC would come back to win the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-18 to secure their second win of the day.  Conklin again led the team in kills, this time with 10.  Thomas added 8 and Kennidy Martin chipped in with 5, she also had 3 block assists.  Mata picked up 18 digs for MSJC.

The victories push the Eagles winning streak to three and make them 4-3 on the season.  MSJC has a busy weekend ahead as they host San Diego Miramar on Friday night at 5 pm, and then travel San Diego Mesa on Saturday for a pair of matches.
