Lady Hawks Draw on the Road

Lady Hawks Draw on the Road

South Lake Tahoe, California. The Lady Hawks traveled to South Lake Tahoe to take on Golden Valley Conference favorites Lake Tahoe Coyotes in a crucial non-conference match.

Lady Hawks draw for the first time this season in an exciting match between to playoff hopeful teams. Action started off quickly when the Coyotes got in behind the Hawks back line and freshman goalkeeper Zara Mujica came out for a big time save. This close call woke up the Lady Hawks as they began to slowly build up momentum and even out the game.  A back and forth half with neither team creating clear chances brought us to a 0-0 halftime.

As the 2nd half kicked off the Lady Hawks continued to compete at a high level not letting the altitude change and hot temperature prevent them from earning a good road result. Our all-freshman backline that consisted of Alana Smith, Kathrine Smith, Anjalina Dahdouh, and Arianna Alvarado had an impressive showing in slowing down LTCC imposing attack. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica had a good performance with 6 saves. Lady Hawks best chance on goal came in the 82ndminute when sophomore forward Analise Villasenor got the ball on the wing and took the LTCC defender. Villasenor faked inside got the defender to go the wrong way and got in for a near post shoot that just missed high.

Next up for the 2-2-1 Lady Hawks are two more road games against Los Medanos and the defending state champions Hartnell Panthers.
