Citrus College battled but came up short against Orange Coast College, falling 11-7.
The Owls slip to 6-13 on the year while the Pirates improve to 9-7.
Alexis Cordero had a strong showing at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs and one run scored.
Citrus struck first with a run in the second off a Cordero RBI single and tacked on another run off a bases-loaded walk.
OCC responded in the fourth with three runs to take the lead, but a three-run bomb from Mia Godoy put the Owls back in front.
The Pirates had an answer once again and plated three runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and another in the seventh to put the pressure on the home team to score at least six runs to tie the game.
With two outs, the Owls started a rally and loaded the bases. Cordero knocked a single to a gap in center, allowing two runners to score. It was all the Pirates would allow, however, as they grabbed the third out to secure the 11-7 result.
The Owls are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Pasadena City College at 2:30 p.m.
