Grossmont College softball takes the win against Mt. San Jacinto College on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Lexi Schmehr completed seven innings on the rubber for the Griffins, and earned another win for the season.

The Griffins collected 16 hits. Birthday girl Danica Crews had an outstanding day at the plate batting 1.000 with 4 singles sprayed across the field. Lexi Schmehr had 3 singles in four at bats. Sierra Schlichting also went 2 for 4.

Pinch hitters Sierra Marty, Alyssia Valdez, and Sheyenne Boubion each earned a hit during their at bats, allowing the Griffins opportunities for runs.

Schlichting went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

Griffins weathered a push by MSCJ in the first inning where Grosmmont College was dealt multiple illegal calls resulting in the Eagles five runs in the first inning from two hits.

The Griffin's settled down after the first inning and only allowed one run in the second. Griffins started off the second inning with Sierra Schlichting at bat, who hit a hard single to left field. Schlichting stole second to allow Danica Crews to hit her teammate in for the first run of the game.

Grossmont got in the groove scoring 10 runs over the next four innings, while shutting the Eagles down. Grossmont's batters contributing to the big innings included Jazmine Gomez, Jessica Medlin, Gabby Clippinger, and Rainee Foster.
