Owls Sweep Marauders with Strong Hitting

Citrus College swept Antelope Valley College Friday night in three sets (25-18, 25-13, 25-17).

The Owls improve to 6-12 overall and 2-3 in Western State Conference-South action, while the Marauders drop to 2-8 on the year and 0-5 in conference.

As a team, Citrus saved its best performance for last, hitting at an impressive .481 attack clip in the third set with just one error.

Sabrina Evangelista led the Owls with 13 kills on a .417 hitting percentage, followed by Caren Stone with eight kills and Gabriella Aguilar with seven kills (.500 attack percentage). Vanessa Marquez dished out 34 assists, while Mychaela Ortiz had three aces.

Defensively, Stone led with 11 digs and Ortiz chipped in another 10. Kalin Greene posted two blocks on the night as well.

The Owls continue on the road, heading to Santa Monica College on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
