W. VOLLEYBALL: HORNETS ON TO THE SOCAL REGIONALS

The No. 17 seed Fullerton passed its play-in test with flying colors beating No. 16 Cuesta College on Saturday evening 3-1.

The Hornets took the first set 25-17 after going up early with a decent 17-9 lead. Cuesta came back in the second set to win it in a nail-biter 25-23. Fullerton seemed to break the Cougars in the third set taking four of the last six points to win it 25-21. The Hornet came out firing in the fourth taking a 20-9 advantage taking the Cougars out of the match with a convincing 25-14 finish.

Once again, Faith Webb led Fullerton in kills with 17, which tied Cuesta's Whitney Thompson for a game-high. Webb also contributed 15 digs. Hannah Wilmes also had a big night with 13 kills along with 13 digs. McKenna Mokry knocked down 7 kills and Jade McIntyre had 6. Hannah Tobin was busy on the floor with a team-high 16 digs, while Maile Grace Tabon scooped up 15. Nya Veikoso also stepped up with 10 digs. Alicia Isa Domingo dished out 31 assists for the Hornet win.

Up Next: The No 17 Hornets (16-12 overall) will play at No. 1 Bakersfield College (20-1 overall) on Tuesday, November 23rd for Round 1 of the SoCal Regional Playoffs. Match-time is at 6:00 pm.
