Early Offense Fades as Tigers Drop Fourth Straight

Riverside was quick to get the bats moving in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown against the Santiago Canyon College Hawks on Wednesday afternoon. Despite the early offensive momentum, a powerhouse approach by the Hawks was too much to handle as the Tigers suffered a 10-4 loss.

Riverside connected for nine hits and responded with a three spot in the bottom of the first inning after finding themselves in a two run hole. A Hawk's error allowed freshman designated player Jazmine Lara to touch home for their first run. Freshman first baseman Alicia Fitzgerald continued to hit the seams off the ball by connecting for her 26^th hit of the year and team-leading 16^th RBI, plating freshman center fielder Tessah Black. Freshman Alexis View capped the inning with a two-out RBI single, scoring sophomore catcher Alicia Rivera, to grab a 3-2 lead.

However, the Riverside offensive went cold the following six frames as they scored a lone run in the third inning. In addition, the Tigers committed three errors that aided the Hawk's offense.

Sophomore Carrah Van Houten (1-11) was tabbed with the loss. Freshman reliever Jazmine Lara had some success in four innings of work by allowing one earned run on four hits.

Fitzgerald and Rivera went 2-for-4, while View recorded two RBI.
