COD (10-1, 1-0) got a solid pitching performance in the 2nd game of the day, they played their visitors at a neutral site of Wheatfield Park in Menifee (Tournament hosted by Mt San Jacinto College), as the Roadrunners used the bottom half of the third inning to take over the Monarchs on their way to their 10th win in a row. The Roadrunners would never relinquish that lead taking down Los Angeles Valley College Monarchs (2-10, 0-0), with a final score of 14-0 in five innings.
Desert scored one run in the first, three runs in the second, eight in the third and two runs in the fourth for the win. Freshman right-handed starting pitcher Nicole Rodriguez (Indio Shadow Hills) tossed an absolute gem, giving up 1 hit, scattering seven batters reaching base, with a season-high four hit batters.
Freshman shortstop and leadoff hitter Davia Hines (Palm Springs H.S.) led the way while going 3 for 3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in, Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) added to the day by going 2 for 2 with one run batted in, Jaidyn Olson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 3, with a base hit & a triple and one run batted in. Hitting out of the seven-hole Catcher Sterling Estrada-Garbutt (Hamilton H.S.) went 2 for 3 on the day and two runs batted in.
