American River College defends its title by claiming NorCal Cross Country Championship; Ismael Ramirez of Sequoias wins individual honors
SALINAS - Hartnell College hosted the 2019 CCCAA Northern California Women's Cross Country Championship on Friday marking the third time in the last five years the regional meet has visited Salinas and Toro Park. As expected the overall winning team and individuals fulfilled their rankings. Top ranked-American River College repeated its regional title from 2018 with a comfortable 30-point victory over second-place College of the Sequoias.
With four runners earning top 14 all-region honors, the Beavers tallied 41 points, led by sophomore Colin DeJulio who took third place and Jesus Guerra Reyes who was fifth. Jesus Guerra Reyes will be the top returner in 2020. College of the Sequoias scored 71 points to move up one team spot this year, while also claiming top individual honors thanks to Ismael Ramirez, who moved up one spot from a year ago tin this year's meet in 19:56. In third place were the Dons of DeAnza College earning their first-ever Norcal regional trophy with 97 points. They had two all-region runners in Ethan Sunseir (12th) and Max Corrales (14th). This was the 13th regional title for the American River Beavers since the small and large college divisions were combined in 1984. It was also their 19th overall in program history.
