JUAN GONZALEZ SPARKS CSM TO 3-0 SHUTOUT OF WEST VALLEY IN GG BASEBALL
Juan Gonzalez singled home Brandon Hernandez in the third inning and College of San Mateo went onto blank visiting West Valley College, 3-0, in a Coast Golden Gate baseball game on Tuesday afternoon. Cameron Greenough scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out three to claim his fifth win against two losses. Daniel Slominski allowed just one hit in two innings of relief to finish the shutout for his first save.

Juan Gonzalez singled home Brandon Hernandez in the third inning and College of San Mateo went onto blank visiting West Valley College, 3-0, in a Coast Golden Gate baseball game on Tuesday afternoon.
Cameron Greenough scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out three to claim his fifth win against two losses. Daniel Slominski allowed just one hit in two innings of relief to finish the shutout for his first save.
Gonzalez later started a two-run sixth inning with a leadoff single. Designated hitter Mark Quinby also singled. Both were then doubled home by Ray Soderman, who had the game's only extra base hit.
The Bulldogs are now 8-5 in Golden Gate play and 19-10 overall. West Valley fell to 3-9, 10-18.
San Mateo will have a rematch at West Valley on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The Bulldogs, ranked seventh in Northern California, then begin the final two weeks of conference play on Saturday at No. 5 De Anza College at 1 p.m.
No. 6 Mission currently leads the GG race by 2 1/2 games over De Anza and is three ahead of CSM.
