Football Goes Into Bye Week With Impressive Road Victory Over #17 Modesto Junior College
The American River Football program defeated Modesto Junior College in impressive manner on the road.
The Beavers seeking to bounce back from a close loss the week before got off to a fast start. The Beavers scored on their first possession from the line of scrimmage as Kenneth Lueth connected with Mikaiah Stephenson for a 70 yard touchdown. With a 7-0 lead, on their next possesion the Beavers saw running back Avant Jacobs sprint 85 yards for the touchdown to expand the lead to 14-0. The Beavers continued their fast start with a 5 play 68 yard drive that was capped off by a 1 yard run by Kenneth Lueth to make the lead 21-0.
Modesto would not go away quietly, resopnding with 13 straight points to cut the lead to 21-13 in the second quarter. However, the Beavers would close out the half strong with a 28 yard field goal by Logan McCreery to push the lead to 24-13 and a 2 yard touchdown run by Kacie Riley to go into halftime with a 31-13 lead.
The second half would see Kacie Riley find the endzone again in the third quarter after 5 yard run to cap off a 8 play 51 yard drive. After a Modesto touchdown late in the third quarter to make the score 38-20, the Beavers would seal the game with a final score of 45-20 after Kacie Riley rushed for his third touchdown with a 2 yard run.
With win, the Beavers close out non-conference play at 4-1 and will have a bye this week before returning home to take on Shasta College at 1 PM on Saturday, October 14th.
