The MSJC baseball team earned their first Inland Empire Athletic Conference win of the season on Saturday over Cerro Coso, before dropping a rough one to College of the Desert on Tuesday.

Saturday the Eagles' bats got going early as they scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first and 3 more in the third to build a 7-0 lead.  The game started with a bang as MSJC lead-off hitter Jaden Jones smacked a homerun over the left field wall in the bottom of the first inning to set the tone for the day.  Nico Reyes added a triple and Nolan Smith a double in the inning to give the Eagles the 4-0 advantage.  Two innings later it was Reyes who homered to lead off the third and the Eagles were in business again.  DJ Graham and Jones both added RBIs in the inning.  Cerro Coso tried to close the gap with 5 straight runs in the 5th through the 7th, but MSJC responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th and 3 more in the 8th to secure the victory.  When the game was over the Eagles had the 12-8 win with Jones and Reyes both ending the day with 3 hits a piece.  Andre Torres, Smith, Reyes, and Jones all had 2 RBIs on the day as the team pounded out 15 hits.  Ethan Van Scoy earned his 4th win of the season on the mound going 6 innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out 5.

On Tuesday a rough fifth inning put the Eagles in a huge hole as they gave up 12 runs in the inning on their way to an 18-2 loss to Desert.  Jones and Phoenix Sommay each had two hits for MSJC in the loss while Robert Jacobsen earned the only RBI of the day.

The Eagles are now 10-9-1 overall on the season and slipped to 1-3 in IEAC action.  The team gets an opportunity to get right back at it on Thursday with a game at Victor Valley.  MSJC will host Barstow on Saturday.  Thursday's game in Victorville is set to begin at 2 pm with Saturday's home game scheduled for 1 pm.
