Rhiannon Underhill mowed down the Chabot lineup for seven innings to lead West Valley to a 6-0 win over the Gladiators Wednesday at Viking Field. Underhill stuck out 11 and gave up a lone 7th-inning, two-out hit for her sixth straight shutout victory. Her 0.00 ERA leads the state and Wednesday's one-hitter comes on the heels of her 2-0 no-hitter at Ohlone on March 7, which, due to 10 consecutive rainouts, was the last time the Vikings played a game.

Bella Sweet returned from a knee injury - it was her first game since Feb. 10 - to knock in the only run WVC would need with a sharp groundout to short that scored Emma Courtney, who was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the 1st and had stolen second and third on consecutive pitches. Reyna Cruz drove in Larissa Higgins four batters later with single that gave WVC (15-5, 4-0 Coast) a 2-0 lead.

Sweet struck again in the second, sending a shot over the Chabot rightfielder's head to the right field fence that drove in Abigail Desa and Courtney. Desa's RBI single and Courtney's sacrifice fly drove in two more in the third for an insurmountable 6-0 Viking lead.

Meanwhile, Underhill was setting the Gladiators (5-19, 0-6) down in order in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  She struck out the side in the second and had two-K innings in the 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th.

West Valley travels to Cabrillo (9-11, 3-2) Thursday (3/23) for an important Coast contest. First pitch is 3:00pm.
