West Valley took advantage of 17 Chabot walks, and home runs from Emelia Araiza and Maddie Grissom, to explode past the Renegades 26-5 in five innings Tuesday. West Valley finishes the regular season 24-15, 9-5 in the Coast Conference, and must now look for an at-large playoff berth (the top two teams in the Coast, San Mateo and San Jose, receive automatic berths). Playoff brackets will be announced at the end of this week.

The Vikings got all the runs they would need with eight in the top of the first, highlighted by Grissom's three-run bomb, her team-high sixth of the season. After Chabot (6-31, 2-12) climbed to within 8-5 after two, West Valley would add four runs in the third, all on walks, six in the fourth on three walks, two hit batters and a Natalie Clevenger RBI-single, and eight in the fifth on another Clevenger RBI-single, an Isabella Gallegos two-run double and an Araiza three-run round-tripper.

Araiza finished the day 2-3 with four RBI and four runs scored, Grissom went 3-4 with three RBI and five runs scored, while Gallegos was 2-3 with two runs scored and five RBI. In the "you don't see that every day" file, Alaysia Clincy had three RBI on three bases-loaded walks. Viking starter Rhiannon Underhill improved to 6-2 with the win in the circle.
