The Sierra softball team defeated Solano College in two games last Friday to advance to the second round of the CCCAA NorCal playoffs. In the first game, the Wolverines won 6-0 and were led at the plate by Woodcreek alumna Kristyn Dodd, who had two RBIs and hit three doubles. Antelope alumna Amaya Sutton had another solid performance on the mound, pitching a complete game one-hitter with eight strikeouts and faced 23 batters.

In game two, Sierra College won 8-0 with Del Oro alumnaKendal Manley striking out seven batters in four innings and also hit a home run. Alpha Charter alumna Arianna De La Loza pitched two scoreless innings only giving up one hit while striking out one. Sophie Mendoza hit a two-run single and Lincoln alumna Jazzy Smith also had two RBIs in the contest. Rosemont alumna Eli Enriquez went three for three with an RBI after going two for three with two RBIs in the first game.

"I think my triple threat ability has definitely been a rally starter for my team," Enriquez said. "This skill has grown so much this season, learning how to read the defense and take what they give me. Our pitching staff has been on fire this year putting in endless work to help our team come out on top every game. They fire up our defense and the least we could do is have their backs on the field.

The Wolverines will now prepare for Cosumnes River in a best of three series that starts on Friday at home. Sierra College is 4-0 against the Hawks this season.

"We need to stay humble," Enriquez said. "We don't intend on taking any team, including Cosumnes River College, for granted from here on out. We are on the hunt for the last game of the season and it starts with us giving 110 percent every day."
