Harris Rockets PCC Softball Record-Breaking 11th Home Run

History accomplished for Pasadena City College softball team sophomore Jaimie Harris on Friday. The Lancers third baseman crushed a third-inning drive over the left field fence to become the Lancers single-season home run record holder with 11 during PCC's 12-0 victory at East Los Angeles College.

Harris added to her PCC alll-time mark for roundtrippers with now 16 and passed the 2015 pair of Holly Riker-Sloan and Justine Zavala, who both hit 10, in breaking the school's power record for one season.

Pasadena stretched its South Coast Conference winning streak to six games and upped its records to 22-10 overall, 15-4 in third place in the SCC.

"Every time Jaimie steps into the box, I expect something amazing to happen," said PCC head coach Monica Tantlinger on her slugging letterman Harris. "She is so fun to watch. I'm incredibly happy for her and journey she has been on. I feel honored to watch an athlete of her caliber compete. I hope she enjoys every moment of breaking this record. I am looking forward to finishing the season with her leading the charge."

From Glendale High, Harris continues to soar in state statistics as she is tied for third in California for homers, fourth in RBI with 43, fourth in total extra-base hits (24), and eighth in slugging percentage at .858. She leads the conference in all four offensive categories.

Austyn Helmuth became the third different Lancers pitcher in seven days to pitch a complete-game shutout, a 3-hitter over the 5-inning, mercy route.

Eight of the nine Lancers starters hit safely v. ELAC with first baseman Marcella Ordonez continuing her hot streak with a 2-for-4 and two RBI, leftfielder Olivia Nanez 2-for-3 with three RBI, rightfielder Arlyne Ruiz (a transfer from the Huskies program) 2-for-3 and two runs knocked in, and catcher Jennie Chacon 2-for-3.

Ordonez is a remarkable streak of reaching base this month. She has hit safely in all 11 games, batting .531 (17-for-32) and has reached base via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch 29 times in 44 plate appearances for a ridiculous .659 on-base percentage. She also has hit four triples in the streak, homered, has three double, and stoles seven bases. Overall, she is tied with Harris for the team batting average lead, both .415.

Today (Saturday, April 15), PCC travels to face state #3 and SCC first-place Mt. San Antonio in a 1 p.m. conference first pitch.
