The #19 American River College Softball program swept #4 Monterey Peninsula College over the weekend, 3-0 and 2-1, in non-conference action.
The first game the Beavers saw pitcher Bree Romero pitched a shutout, while offense was led by two hits from Sophie Peterburs and two RBI doubles by Alex Garcia.
The second game proved to be an instant classic. Both teams were tied at 1-1 going into extra innings. The Beavers would score the winning the run in the bottom of the 9th inning to take home the 2-1 victory. Taylor Mckay pitched nine innings with only two hits and one unearned run.
The Beavers will be back in Big 8 Conference play on Tuesday, April 11, at 3 PM as they host Santa Rosa Junior College.
